Bosch Lands Mercedes-Benz Electric Motor Order

Bosch in Germany won a large order from Mercedes-Benz for electric motors. Unlike some of its other automotive clients, Mercedes-Benz will purchase only the electric motors themselves. They plan to combine these Bosch motors with their own drivetrain components, such as the ATS 2.0 unit used in the fully electric CLA.

This order is particularly important for Bosch, a company recently facing job cuts. It provides much-needed large-volume contracts in the growing electric mobility market. Bosch’s Markus Heyn states the order confirms their long-standing partnership with Mercedes-Benz and highlights their technological expertise.

Bosch reports its motors achieve up to 98% efficiency with a new winding technology increasing power density. These motors, available in outputs up to 500 kW and 1,000 Nm of torque, also feature rotor oil cooling and a scalable platform architecture. Bosch currently supplies over 50 automakers globally and aims to produce over seven million electric driving components in 2026.
