Epiroc to Supply Electric Mining Equipment to Africa

Why this is here: The order for multiple Pit Viper 275 E drill rigs demonstrates a growing demand for autonomous, electric equipment in African mining operations.
Epiroc received an order worth 380 million Swedish krona, roughly 35 million euros, for electric mining equipment destined for Africa. The company will deliver the equipment soon, with completion expected by the end of 2027. Epiroc did not disclose the customer or specific location of the deployment.
The order includes multiple Pit Viper 275 E electric blast hole rotary drill rigs. These cable-connected machines operate autonomously and can position themselves on the drill site. They also precisely execute drilling patterns, increasing safety and efficiency.
Epiroc previously delivered battery-electric versions of several machines to Canada. These included the Boomer M20 SG, Scooptram ST18 SG, Scooptram ST14 SG, and Minetruck MT42 SG. Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO, stated the order supports customers in operating safely, productively, and sustainably.
