Why this is here: The march featured a group of 40 cyclists ringing bells, a unique artistic intervention inspired by a poem about bicycles symbolizing the disappeared, adding a distinctive sound to the demonstration.

Tens of thousands marched in Rosario on March 24, 2026, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the military coup that began Argentina’s last dictatorship. The march included activists, families, and supporters demanding answers about the fate of those disappeared during the regime and those illegally appropriated.

A new exhibit titled “50 veinticuatros” opened at the Museum of Memory, featuring a project asking “Where are they?” and displaying proposals for urgent questions to address today. The exhibit traces the history of these marches back to 1984, starting with a silent march and growing to peaks of 90,000 to 100,000 participants in recent decades.

The march saw participation from various groups, including football clubs Newell’s Old Boys and Rosario Central, as well as artistic collectives and political organizations. Organizers estimated around 150,000 people participated, making it the largest such march in the city’s history. Participants carried photos of the disappeared and chanted slogans demanding accountability.
