Perpignan Firm Ships Water Filters to Mayotte

Why this is here: The filters, comparable in principle to home water filter carafes, will collectively process one million liters of seawater per day for the island of Mayotte.
System Hydro Group, a company in Perpignan, France, shipped eight large water filters to Mayotte. The filters will equip a new desalination plant in Ironi Be. Each filter is seven meters long, three meters in diameter, and weighs 9.5 tons.
The filters can each treat one million liters of seawater daily. System Hydro Group specializes in custom-made water capture and treatment equipment. They apply a protective coating to the filters to resist corrosion from seawater, similar to coatings used on offshore wind turbine masts.
The company secured the international contract following a bidding process. This Mayotte project represents 25% of System Hydro Group’s annual revenue of 3.5 million euros. Five employees purchased the company two years ago after the founder retired.
