Vimont Family Salon Continues in France

In Bihorel, France, Louise Vimont now runs the family hair salon started by her great-grandfather in 1945. Louise is the fourth generation of Vimonts to cut hair in the town, and the first woman to lead the business. Raymond Vimont initially opened a salon in Lieurey, but relocated to Bihorel after his first shop was destroyed during the war.

Jacques Vimont, Louise’s father, expanded the salon to serve both men and women in the 1990s, a move considered unusual at the time. He expected to retire without a successor, as Louise initially pursued studies in finance at Essec. However, the Covid-19 pandemic prompted Louise to reconsider her path.

She enrolled in a three-year hair program with L’Oréal and took over the salon in 2024. While Louise initially envisioned a different career, she found fulfillment in continuing the family legacy. The salon still serves longtime customers who have known Louise since childhood, and the business adapts to changing styles.
