BMW I5 Touring Wins Over French Sales Rep, Ditching Diesel

Florian, a sales representative in Haute-Savoie, France, now drives a BMW i5 Touring as a company vehicle and has no plans to return to diesel. Previously driving Mercedes and Volkswagen vans to transport sports equipment, he initially opposed electric vehicles but was required to switch by his German employer two years ago.

He now averages 55,000 kilometers annually, traveling to regions across France and even to the Spanish border, and regularly completes over 900 kilometer days. Florian reports a smooth transition, aided by company support, including a charging badge accepted across France and Germany, and pre-existing knowledge about EV infrastructure.

While acknowledging the need for more charging stations, especially on heavily trafficked routes like the A7 highway, he finds the charging stops manageable, often pairing them with coffee breaks. He has even installed a home charging station for added convenience.

He praises the BMW i5’s comfort, performance, and driver-focused ergonomics, and believes the switch to electric has been positive for himself and colleagues. Though his wife continues to drive a diesel due to cost considerations, Florian is a strong advocate for electric vehicles and appreciates their quiet, vibration-free ride.
