Avantus to Build Large-Scale Solar and Storage Project in California

Avantus signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Clean Power Alliance for the Rexford 2 solar and battery energy storage system project in Tulare County, California. The project will combine 200 MWac of solar power generation with 200 MW/800 MWh of battery energy storage capacity.

The Rexford 2 project is expected to begin construction in 2027, become operational in late 2028, and start delivering power in May 2029. Avantus will own and operate the facility as part of its independent power producer strategy.

This announcement follows Avantus securing $525 million in financing in July 2026 for a similar solar and storage project in Kern County, California, which is currently under construction and will deliver 150 MWac of solar and 452 MWh of storage by the end of 2026. The company is expanding its renewable energy portfolio in the state.
