MTA Launches Scalable Heat Pump System

Italian manufacturer MTA Spa launched a new air-to-water heat pump system for commercial and industrial use. The “Gemini” heat pump offers flexible configurations and can connect up to six units on a single site. These systems deliver heating capacities from 84 to 900 kW and cooling capacities from 87 kW to over 1 MW.

The range includes six versions, with the smallest unit weighing 785 kg and achieving a coefficient of performance of up to 3.28. Larger units weigh up to 1,157 kg and offer a slightly lower COP of 3.14. All models utilize R454B refrigerant, which has a global warming potential of 466.

MTA claims the new range achieves seasonal coefficient of performance improvements of up to 18 percent. However, sound levels from the units range from 84.8 to 95.7 dB(A), which may require consideration during installation. The company, based in Tribano, Italy, continues to develop efficient and low-GWP refrigerant technologies.
