Ukraine Officially Recognizes Solar PV Installer Profession

Ukraine officially recognized solar PV installer as a profession, adding the standard to its National Qualifications Register. The move establishes unified requirements for skills and competencies and will underpin future education and certification programs.

Atmosfera, a solar energy company, initiated the process after noting a surge in residential solar installations, over 86,000 currently, and a need to ensure installation quality as the sector rapidly grew and attracted workers from outside renewable energy. The accreditation will align with new vocational education laws taking effect in 2030, requiring qualifications for all graduates.

Atmosfera plans to become a qualification center to award state-recognized credentials and is also working to develop standards for other solar industry occupations. The company views this as a crucial step toward a sustainable and mature renewable energy market in Ukraine, which added 1.5 GW of solar capacity in 2025, bringing its total to over 8.5 GW.
