GCL Optoelectronics Wins First China Perovskite-Silicon Module Order

Why this is here: Huaneng’s tender uniquely demanded commercially available, mass-producible tandem modules with international certification, signaling a shift from pilot projects to scaled deployment.
GCL Optoelectronics secured a 1.2 MW commercial order for perovskite-silicon tandem PV modules from Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute. The project will supply modules for an outdoor demonstration power plant built by China Huaneng Group. GCL Optoelectronics was the sole winning bidder in the tender.
The tender specified modules with at least 26% conversion efficiency and full IEC 61215/61730 certification. Huaneng required a 100 MW production line capacity and a 25-year service life guarantee. Delivery is scheduled for June 2026 with a 25-year performance warranty.
This is China’s first publicly tendered commercial perovskite tandem module procurement project among the five major state-owned power generation groups. GCL Optoelectronics claims it is the first Chinese company to mass-produce perovskite modules. The company’s modules reportedly passed IEC certifications and completed over 10,000 hours of reliability tests.
