Forsee Power Batteries to Power Croatian Trains

KONČAR Electric Vehicles will integrate Forsee Power’s ZEN 55 LFP RAIL battery systems into eight new trains operating in Croatia. The Croatian manufacturer plans to use the batteries in both battery multiple units and battery-electric multiple units designed for non-electrified railway lines. These trains, capable of carrying 200 to 300 passengers, will utilize the batteries for propulsion, auxiliary power, and regenerative braking.

The ZEN 55 LFP RAIL system is modular, allowing KONČAR to configure storage capacity from several kWh to multi-megawatt-hour levels. It’s designed to work with existing railway infrastructure and supports voltage architectures up to 1,500V.

Forsee Power emphasizes the LFP chemistry’s suitability for regional train use due to its long cycle life and thermal stability. The battery system meets several rail and battery standards, including EN 50126 SIL2. KONČAR has prior experience deploying similar battery and electric multiple units across Europe, and this partnership expands that effort.
