Dongwha Electrolyte Gains Lithium Salt Supply Deal

Dongwha Electrolyte, a subsidiary of Dongwha Enterprise in South Korea, now has an exclusive supply agreement with Sunyes Zhongning New Materials Technology in China. The deal centers on lithium hexafluorophosphate, or LiPF6—a key component in most lithium-ion batteries. Sunyes Zhongning currently produces about 5,000 tons of LiPF6 annually.

Dongwha Electrolyte anticipates the agreement will stabilize its raw material supply. This comes as demand increases from the electric vehicle and energy storage system markets. The company expects to improve its cost structure with advanced access to LiPF6.

The contract’s financial details, duration, and exact volumes remain undisclosed. Dongwha Electrolyte will need to continue securing diverse sources to fully mitigate future supply chain risks. The company plans to continue supplying electrolytes to customers without interruption.
