Obasanjo Cites Ethiopia’s History and People as Keys to Future

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo addressed Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Conference in Addis Ababa, identifying the nation’s history, diversity, and population as critical strengths. Obasanjo also noted Ethiopia’s strategic location, large diaspora, and hardworking population as assets for future development. He highlighted Ethiopia’s recent success in wheat production, achieving self-sufficiency and becoming a net exporter, as an example of how the country can leverage its potential.

The former president stressed that national cohesion and a shared purpose, fostered through dialogues like the current conference, are essential to realizing these opportunities. Obasanjo believes Ethiopia can become a major contributor to Africa’s economic growth, potentially serving as a food basket for the continent.
