Texas Actor Finds Home and Healing in Prague

Jessica Boone, an actor originally from Texas, unexpectedly built a life and career in Prague after arriving in 2010 for a theatrical production. Initially intending a short stay, a television role and then a cancer diagnosis led her to embrace the Czech capital as a permanent home. She found support during her illness at Prague’s Motol University Hospital and appreciated the Czech emphasis on artistic tradition and a slower pace of life.

Boone and her husband, Guy Roberts, co-founded the Prague Shakespeare Company, an international ensemble that performs in iconic Prague venues. The company has become a source of community and artistic fulfillment for Boone, extending beyond professional success to enrich her personal life.

She now raises her bilingual sons in Prague, valuing the city’s safety and child-centered culture. Boone will return to the stage this month in As You Like It and Twelfth Night as part of the Summer Shakespeare Festival.
