Hermes Agent: Self-Improving AI for Personal Productivity
Why this is here: This project demonstrates progress beyond simple task completion by focusing on procedural memory – the agent actively creates, improves, and stores skills, evidenced by its ability to autonomously build skills after complex tasks and search its conversation history for cross-session recall.
Hermes Agent is a new, open-source AI agent developed by Nous Research designed to learn and improve over time, offering a potentially more adaptable and personalized AI experience. Unlike many AI assistants, Hermes Agent features a built-in learning loop, allowing it to create and refine skills based on user interactions and past conversations. It can access and utilize its own memory across sessions, building a model of the user's preferences and needs.
The agent is designed to be affordable and accessible, running on inexpensive cloud infrastructure like a $5 VPS, and is compatible with a wide range of language models, including those from Nous Portal, OpenAI, and others.
Hermes Agent offers a full terminal interface and integrates with popular messaging platforms like Telegram, Discord, and Slack. It also includes features like automated scheduling, parallel task delegation, and tools for research, all while prioritizing user privacy and security through features like command approval and container isolation.
