AWS Adds Water Usage Data to Sustainability Service

Amazon Web Services now includes annual water withdrawal data in its AWS Sustainability service, giving customers a broader view of their environmental impact. The new feature displays water usage by AWS Region, specific service, and individual account, alongside existing carbon emissions data.

This addition allows organizations to track the total volume of water used for data center operations. AWS notes that improvements in data center efficiency will be reflected in lower water withdrawal volumes reported through the service.

The water withdrawal data is currently available at no extra cost in all regions where AWS Sustainability operates. Amazon intends this expanded visibility to help customers better understand and manage their complete environmental footprint.
