Shanghai Medical Team Treats 2000 in Remote Tibetan County

A 56-person medical team from Shanghai completed a mission in Tibet’s Qushu County, providing healthcare to approximately 2000 residents. The team, organized by several Chinese organizations, traveled to remote towns within Qushu County, offering diagnostics, treatment, and health education. They focused on common and prevalent diseases in the region, including cardiovascular issues, neurological conditions, and traditional Chinese medicine.

The team overcame challenges posed by the high altitude and difficult terrain to deliver care, including house calls for elderly and disabled patients. In addition to direct patient care, the Shanghai experts conducted training sessions at the Qushu County Hospital, aiming to improve the skills of local medical staff.

The team identified a need for standardized treatment and regular health check-ups among the local population, as well as a high prevalence of conditions like osteoarthritis and diabetes. They propose establishing a long-term medical collaboration between Shanghai and Qushu County to improve the region’s overall health levels.
