Ancient Inscriptions Found in Kazakhstan Shed Light on Kangju State

Archaeologists in southern Kazakhstan unearthed inscriptions and artifacts at the Kultobe settlement that connect to the ancient Kangju state. Researchers from the Archaeology Center of South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University made the discoveries during the 2026 excavation season.

Kangju was an early political entity in Central Asia, and these findings promise to expand understanding of its history. The inscriptions and artifacts are considered rare and offer fresh perspectives on the state’s culture and governance.
