UK Announces £14M Trade Support Package at WTO Conference

gov.uk · 25 March 2026

Why this is here: The UK committed £5 million to the Enhanced Integrated Framework, making it the largest single donor to the program’s second phase with a contribution of $22.7 million over six years.

The United Kingdom announced a £13 million Aid for Trade package at the WTO Ministerial Conference in Cameroon. The funding will support seven initiatives designed to help developing economies strengthen their trading systems. These programs aim to connect businesses to global markets and build long-term economic resilience.

The UK will work with governments, regional institutions, and the WTO and World Bank on initiatives. These efforts will streamline customs, improve safety standards, and modernize regulations. An additional £1 million was transferred to the WTO Fisheries Fund to protect marine resources.

Minister of State Chris Bryant stated trade drives growth and opportunity globally. Ambassador Kumar Iyer emphasized the importance of investing in institutions that support equal trade terms. This package is part of the UK’s broader approach to development and ODA allocations.
