Dublin to Honor Football Captain Pico Lopes

Dublin City Council will host a civic reception for Shamrock Rovers captain and Cape Verde international Pico Lopes on July 25th at Eamonn Ceannt Park in Crumlin. The event recognizes Lopes’s achievements in football, including his role in qualifying Cape Verde for the Fifa World Cup.

The council also intends to acknowledge the contribution of Lourdes Celtic FC, the local club where Lopes began his career, and the broader community to his development as a player.

Lopes expressed his excitement about returning to Lourdes Celtic to thank those who supported him throughout his career and during Cape Verde’s World Cup campaign. Dublin’s Lord Mayor Daryl Barron stated Lopes serves as an inspiration to young people in the city.
