Belgian Fanfare Marks 150 Years with National Day Performance

The Sint-Huibrecht Fanfare from Ramsel, Belgium, celebrated its 150th anniversary by performing for two hours in the Muziekkiosk at Warandepark in Brussels on the country’s national day. The band applied to perform two years ago and received approval earlier this year, prompting immediate rehearsals.

The fanfare deliberately chose to mark the milestone with a public performance. They prepared a varied program of modern music, concluding with a medley by Bart Peeters.

Although the King and Queen were unable to attend due to prior commitments, band member Steven Nijs believes the founding members would have been proud of the performance. The band continues to perform regularly in the region of Antwerp.
