Belgium Seeks Host Families for International Students

AFS Belgium is seeking approximately ten volunteer host families to welcome international students aged 15 to 18 in September. The organization facilitates language and cultural exchange programs, bringing around fifty students to Belgium each year. Host families provide room and board, integrating the students into their daily lives for periods of three, six, or ten months.

Families like Cynthia, Franck, and Sylvie in Mouscron have previously hosted students from Russia, Iceland, and German Switzerland, describing the experience as rewarding. They emphasize the mutual cultural exchange and the small adjustments needed to accommodate a new family member.

AFS hopes to find families willing to open their homes and share Belgian culture with these students. The program aims to provide students with linguistic immersion and a deeper understanding of a new culture, while also enriching the lives of the host families through intercultural learning.
