RFC Liège Reaches Agreement to Clear Training Grounds

RFC Liège in Juprelle, Belgium, announced an agreement with a group of Travellers who had occupied the club’s youth training grounds. The Travellers initially moved to the RFC Liège grounds after leaving a site in Ellas Herstal.

Discussions between local authorities, landowners, and the Travellers initially allowed them to stay for up to ten days, a timeline that conflicted with the club’s planned resumption of youth training on July 20th. The club expressed concern over the initial decision, citing a lack of consultation.

However, further negotiations, including the mayor of Juprelle and the landowners, resulted in a revised agreement. The Travellers committed to leaving the grounds by 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 19th, a week ahead of schedule. RFC Liège plans to quickly restore the facilities and resume training, potentially using alternate fields at the Rocourt stadium if necessary.
