Belgian Tennis Club Boosts Sustainability with LED Upgrade

The Tennis Club de Beauvechain in Belgium replaced its exterior court lighting with LED projectors following the installation of photovoltaic panels in 2023. The club, supported by the local municipality, completed the LED upgrade in April.

The 10,660 Watt-peak solar panels already cover a significant portion of the club’s electrical needs, resulting in a net consumption of only 1.199 kWh and an electricity bill of approximately 400 euros over the last three years. The new LED projectors provide an average illumination of 650 lux while consuming three times less electricity than the previous system.

The municipality anticipates the tennis club will achieve near energy independence in 2027. They are also considering installing batteries to store locally produced electricity, with the current equipment already prepared to accommodate the technology.
