Croatia Renovates Neurology and Psychiatry Wards

Croatian Minister of Health Irena Hrstić opened renovated neurology and psychiatry wards at the Požeška Opća županijska bolnica in Požega, Croatia. The hospital marked its 90th anniversary with the unveiling of the modernized facilities, which received nearly 1.1 million euros in funding from the Ministry of Health and the hospital itself. The renovation fully modernized a 1940s building dedicated to neurological and psychiatric care, improving conditions for patients with stroke, chronic neurological diseases, and those requiring psychiatric treatment.

The upgrades include modernized patient rooms, new installations, and contemporary medical equipment, also creating a better work environment for healthcare professionals. Minister Hrstić emphasized the government’s continued investment in general hospitals nationwide to ensure equal access to quality healthcare for all citizens, with neurological care and mental health prioritized.

The project is part of a larger investment cycle for the Požega hospital, with projects worth almost 19.6 million euros contracted between 2016 and 2026. The hospital plans further development including a Diagnostic Center and housing for staff.
