Slovenia to Complete Ten Health Digitization Projects

Tomaž Gornik, director of Better, announced in Slovenia that roughly ten projects to digitize healthcare will be completed by summer. The projects are funded by 83 million euros from the European Union’s recovery and resilience mechanism. These initiatives include establishing an e-card system, a national drug registry, digitizing physical patient records, and a strategic data warehouse.

Better, a company active in European health digitization, is implementing these projects and already provides platforms for over 150 hospitals, including major cancer and general hospitals in Europe. The goal is to create a connected healthcare system with readily available patient data for all providers.

Panelists at a conference noted that successful digitization depends heavily on implementation and staff training. While the technology offers benefits like improved data access and streamlined communication, maintaining a focus on patient connection and addressing potential workflow disruptions remain important. The work to fully realize these benefits continues, as immediate results will not follow project completion.
