These improvements appear to prepare Tesla for wider deployment of its steering wheel-less Cybercabs.

The updated app now supports remote operator voice calls, allowing passengers to connect with Tesla teleoperators for assistance during rides. It also introduces proactive remote assistance, where the system anticipates needs like route changes or climate adjustments. For the wheel-less Cybercabs, fleet operators can remotely start or manually override vehicles at low speeds for maneuvering or maintenance.

Ride dispatch now includes soft-matching and multi-stop support, optimizing fleet use. A “kill switch” feature allows Tesla to remotely freeze a vehicle’s operation if needed. While these updates aim for a smoother ride-hailing experience, the system still relies on human intervention for certain situations and the full capabilities remain untested at scale.
