VinFast Launches “Rentapasada” in Philippines to Boost Entrepreneurship

VinFast is launching its “Rentapasada” program in the Philippines, allowing aspiring entrepreneurs to start ride-hailing businesses with electric vehicles without large upfront costs. Unlike traditional models where drivers own or lease vehicles, Rentapasada provides access to a vehicle, charging, maintenance, and a ride-hailing platform, Green GSM, for a fixed daily rate of approximately $20.

The program addresses the common barrier to entry in the Philippines’ ride-hailing market, where most vehicles are owned by individuals who rent them to drivers. VinFast offers two models, the five-seat VF 5 and the seven-seat Limo Green, to suit different transport needs.

Drivers can potentially earn free charging for over three years by meeting performance targets, and those who complete their contracts may purchase the vehicle, with credit toward the price. VinFast aims to replicate the success of its Green GSM service in Vietnam, focusing on commercial drivers who can benefit most from lower operating costs. The company hopes to demonstrate that electric vehicles can be productive assets in developing economies and broaden access to electric mobility.
