Austrian Students Raise Awareness of Gender Equality

Students from Sacré Coeur Riedenburg in Vienna, Austria, collaborated with the human rights organization Südwind to develop ideas for raising awareness about gender equality in public spaces. During the MACH WAS Days, the students explored gender issues, uncovered stereotypes, and identified privileges through an interactive audio performance.

They then used this knowledge to create photo collages for a social media campaign during a “Color Hunt”. The students also implemented practical ideas using posters and stencils to highlight existing inequalities in public spaces.

One student noted she hadn’t realized the gender pay gap was particularly large in Vorarlberg. Südwind aims to promote global justice through education, campaigns, and public relations work, empowering young people to advocate for a more equitable world. July 17, 2026, is designated as the Day of Justice.
