Austria Launches Free IT Education Initiative

The Digital Competence Offensive Austria (DKO) presented an initiative offering approximately 50 free educational opportunities in information technology. The program, developed by Austria’s economic platform, provides over 1,200 hours of digital learning content both online and in person, including school workshops.

The offerings target a broad audience, students, teachers, professionals, IT specialists, seniors, people with disabilities, and those with migration backgrounds, focusing on skills like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital basics. Thirty companies, including A1, Samsung, and IBM, have already committed educational programs to the first package of measures.

The DKO will coordinate this collaboration, consolidate the offerings, and support their nationwide distribution. Officials emphasize digital competence is crucial for social participation, career opportunities, and Austria’s competitiveness, framing it as equally important as literacy.
