Libyan Firm Tests Natural Gas Supply to Power Plant

Sirte Oil Production and Manufacturing Company in Libya completed operational trials of a metering station last Sunday, initiating a project to supply the Sirte Steam Power Plant with natural gas. The company intends to replace liquid fuels currently used by the plant with this new gas supply.

Following this initial phase, the company will fill the branch pipeline and the pressure reduction station.

This project aims to improve the power plant’s efficiency and reduce dependence on liquid fuels, aligning with the National Oil Corporation’s broader strategy to bolster the electricity sector and increase natural gas utilization for economic and environmental gains. Gas supplies are expected to begin within days.
