Libya Seeks French Expertise to Revamp Water and Sanitation

Abu Bakr Oweidat, Undersecretary of Libya’s Ministry of Housing and Construction, met with a delegation from French company SUEZ at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters. The meeting focused on establishing a partnership to improve Libya’s water and sanitation infrastructure. SUEZ, a global leader in water and infrastructure development, will share expertise in planning, design, implementation, and asset management.

The Ministry intends to strengthen international cooperation to support national reconstruction efforts and address challenges in Libya’s water and sanitation sectors. Discussions included aligning development with sustainable practices and building national capacity through technology transfer and knowledge exchange.

Both sides agreed to continue coordinating and draft a framework for a joint strategic vision. This initiative supports Libya’s reconstruction programs and the “Return to Life” initiative, aiming for sustainable urban development and improved services for citizens.
