Qatar Advances Healthcare with Digital Precision Medicine

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Qatar is investing in digital transformation to modernize laboratory diagnostics and genetic testing. HMC has integrated digital systems to streamline laboratory operations, delivering test results faster and more accurately. This initiative supports Qatar National Vision 2030’s goal of creating a digitally driven healthcare system.

The corporation now performs over 20 million diagnostic tests annually, including 153,000 genetic tests, and recently launched in-house Clinical Whole Exome Sequencing. HMC also achieved self-sufficiency in blood supplies and introduced cryopreservation technology to store rare blood types for up to 30 years.

These advancements extend to organ transplantation support and cancer detection, with the anatomical pathology laboratory processing over 60,000 tissue samples each year. HMC is also strengthening efforts against antimicrobial resistance and expanding medical education programs.
