Qatari Startup Pioneers Hydroponics for Food Security

Jeacim Francis Adaya founded Hydrovest Technology in Qatar to develop hydroponic solutions tailored for arid climates. What began as a family gardening project during the Covid-19 pandemic has grown into a research initiative at the Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Adaya, a former accountant, identified a need for accessible, affordable hydroponic technology and education for smaller growers in Qatar, despite large-scale public investment in national food security. He leveraged his financial background to build a sustainable business model focused on data analysis and risk management.

Hydrovest Technology aims to address Qatar’s unique environmental challenges, high temperatures and limited freshwater, by creating technologies specifically designed for desert environments and fostering community-based food production. Adaya believes success extends beyond financial gains, emphasizing the importance of inspiring local communities to embrace independent food production and create societal value. The company continues research and development to refine its methods and expand access to hydroponic farming.
