Jordan Consolidates Education Ministries to Streamline System

Jordan’s Cabinet approved measures on Wednesday to merge the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research into a single Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. The new ministry aims to integrate all levels of education, from early childhood to higher education, and eliminate bureaucratic overlap.

Existing employees will maintain their job security and benefits during the transition. The cabinet also settled 663 outstanding tax disputes in an effort to support local businesses and improve the economic climate.

Beyond the ministry merger, the government approved changes to the Al Hussein Award for Volunteer Work for 2026, establishing a dedicated unit within the Ministry of Youth and refining the evaluation process. It also modernized the organizational structure of the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places.
