Jordan to Build Cybersecurity Center for Telecoms

Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission held a meeting with the National Cyber Security Center, the International Telecommunication Union, and telecom operators to plan a Cybersecurity Incident Response Center for the country’s telecommunications sector. The commission views the center as a crucial step in bolstering Jordan’s digital infrastructure and economic security.

The center will focus on forecasting threats, responding to incidents, and sharing information among stakeholders to ensure business continuity and data protection. Officials emphasized the need for an integrated defense system capable of adapting to rapid technological advancements.

The project aims to establish a model for cybersecurity capabilities in the region, particularly for less developed countries, aligning with ITU standards and best practices. Participants agreed on a roadmap to finalize the center’s operational steps and update incident reporting policies.
