Egypt Sees Declines in Cancer Mortality and Incidence

Egypt’s Minister of Health announced that cancer mortality rates fell by 23.5% and cancer incidence decreased by 17.2% in Egypt. The ministry attributes these improvements to the National Cancer Control Plan launched in 2023, which focused on early detection, comprehensive treatment, and palliative care.

The plan included expanding screening programs, increasing the number of specialized cancer centers, and improving access to medications. Officials also emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.

These declines represent progress in addressing a major public health challenge in Egypt. The Ministry of Health intends to continue expanding the cancer control plan and further improve outcomes for patients across the country.
