O2 Deploys First Pre-Assembled Mobile Site in Europe

U.K. carrier O2 deployed Europe’s first pre-assembled mobile site in Sandwich, Kent. The new approach aims to reduce deployment time and improve network consistency.
O2 installed the fully pre-configured mast in approximately four hours. This contrasts with the typical two-day installation time for conventional sites.
The pre-assembled masts, developed with Vecta Labs, shift integration and testing to a factory setting. This reduces on-site connections from around 100 cables to as few as six. Factory validation enhances performance and minimizes installation errors.
O2 plans to roll out over 100 similar sites across the U.K. this year as part of a £700 million ($937 million) mobile transformation plan. Vecta Labs states the pre-assembly platform is designed for volume manufacturing and can adapt to various site configurations.
